Troposphere 2023

An audio adventure featuring scientist Dr Carol Cotterill, musician Liam Frost and artist Dan Harvey, broadcast on BBC Radio 4 Short Cuts - now on BBC Sounds.

A set of paintings exploring the thin slice of atmosphere where all our weather happens.

A crew embark from Svalbard - the Norwegian Arctic - for Scorsby Sund, the world’s largest fjord on the east coast of Greenland. Artists sail with geologists and oceanographers; they will take part in scientific experiments, measure ocean currents, learn about the Greenland ice sheet. At Scorsby, they will meet the indigenous community, encounter musk oxen, seals, black guillemot, polar bears. But, they never get there…

Audio: Thanks to Andrea Rangecroft and the Short Cuts team at Falling Tree Productions, to Philip Bosworth for collaboration on script and Cape Farewell.
