Breath Carriers

Think of a seedling. On a high tide, a buoyant thing.

Take a trip to the Sundarbans, the mangrove forests in the Bay of Bengal.

Story tellers: Soumyak Kanti De Biswas (Tin Can, Kolkata / The Yard, London) & Vicky Long

Highlight of my festival - evocative story, intimately delivered.
Marianne Mulvey, Curator, Public Programmes, Tate

Breath Carriers is a short story, written by Vicky Long, triggered by a research expedition to the Sundarbans with theatre companies, Ranan (Kolkata) and Transport (Folkestone), supported by British Council and Arts Council England.

Photographs from the expedition here.

Vicky is a Creative Associate with Transport Theatre. Transport's production, The Edge, tells further stories from the East of India, woven together with tales from the South East coast of England. To find out more about The Edge, visit Vicky's documentation of the project at Making the Edge.
